RCA 12.2 Inch Android 7 Laplet

Was just having a read about the new RCA 12.2 Inch Android 7 (Nougat) Tablet / Laptop mix (I call it a Laplet) over on tabletpcreview. It's not out yet, so they were only able to play with a prototype. To be honest, I know I'm not Mr. Up-to-date, but I have never heard of the brand RCA before. Shame on me. Is it really well known?

For the price it looks like quite a good device. A 12.2" screen is massive in the tablet world. Almost up there with the iPad Pro in terms of screen size. Not in supreme quality and resolution though. But hey, you can't have it all. And considering the proposed price ($250) and specification, it's not meant to be a competitor to the top of the range iPad's in any way, shape or form.

However, it looks and sounds like a good choice for people who want to use it more for work related tasks. The specification is basically quite standard issue, nothing special at all. So definitely not one for gamers, developers or people who love to push a devices resources to the limit.

Specification is rather basic. MediaTek Quad-Core Processor, 2GB RAM, 64GB Internal storage, Dual cameras, IPS screen, USB Port and SD slot. A choice between Android 7 and a Windows based model will be available. Combined in the package will be a keyboard. Two different types of keyboards are available depending on what tablet you buy (Android or Windows based). The RCA 12.2 Inch tablet, once released, is heading into a crowded marketplace. So it will have a lot of competition to contend with.

It's being marketed at two devices in one. A fully fledged tablet, then add the keyboard into the mix and it's basically a laptop. This will suit some people really well. But, if you consider that most cheap Tablets these days have the optional extra of having an external keyboard attached, it really makes you think that the only stand-out features of the RCA 12.2 Inch is it's large display and Android 7.0.
