I think this is dependant on what you need it for. A Tablet is more for entertainment purposes really. That's not to say you can't use it for work related tasks, because you can. However, if you are someone who does a lot of typing, a but like me, you definitely don't want a "normal" tablet that doesn't come with an external keyboard. If you do buy such a tablet and don't buy yourself an external keyboard, you will have to resort to the on-screen touch keyboard and that will definitely hinder / slow down your typing / productivity.
Similar priced laptops, or Notebooks, such as the Acer Aspire ES11 ES1-132, really offer a much better overall deal than a tablet of the same price. If we compare the tablet equivalent (Linx 1020 or Linx 1010B) of a cheap Windows 10 laptop or notebook of around the same price, it's clear to see from the specification comparison that the Aspire ES11 is the more impressive.
OK, with the Linx 1010B or 1020 tablets you can remove the keyboard and use it as a slate, which is a little more convenient if you want to sit back and watch a movie. But the ES11 ES1-132 has an eleven and a half in screen, 32GB internal storage space and 4GB RAM.
Fair enough, the Intel Celeron N3350 Processor is only a Dual Core, and compared to other Intel Processors like the i5 and i7 it is nowhere near as powerful. But its more than capable of providing a good user experience. And for work / office related tasks it is well suited. It also has lots of ports and other features, just like any laptop / notebook, and is also available in 13 Inch and 15 Inch screen sizes.
Tablet or a cheap Notebook? The tablet is still a good choice for entertainment, but personally I'd go with the Notebook because I'm someone who needs a good, efficient workstation to type on. And that is a bit harder to do on a tablet, even one that comes with an external keyboard as most of them are rather small and fiddly to use. It comes down to personal preference and what you need to use the device for. Not sure what you're looking for in a tablet?
