Microsoft Surface Go 128GB SSD 8GB UK

Microsoft Surface Go quick review / overview UK. The Surface series of 2-in-1 hybrids by Microsoft have been under much scrutiny over the last few years. Mostly due to Microsoft's inability to produce a product, as people eagerly anticipated, that was truly amazing, and just, well, worked as required.

The amount of poor customer review scores for many of the Surface Pro models were a real eye opener, and behind each bad customer review was a story of disappointment by the many who trusted Microsoft, took the plunge and bought a Surface Pro. It wasn't all bad, though, as there were some happy users (especially with the Pro 4), but when a review score is averaging in the 3.5 star range on Amazon, you can pretty much bet your bottom dollar that the product has some serious issues.

Anyway, that's enough about that. This post is a happy success story, not meant to place shade on previous products. However, it had to be mentioned, because Microsoft's track record with most things "Surface" related has been sketchy. With that said, the Microsoft Surface Go is almost the complete opposite, and it appears this time Microsoft have got it right with the Surface Go. Reviews are heavily positive.

Size And Versatility

Smaller at just 10 Inches, lighter, and with a more refined start up process, the Surface Go is a versatile, true 2-in-1 hybrid that can perform just fine as a tablet for watching movies, streaming, gaming, browsing, etc, and switch effortlessly to a full desktop computer, capable of high-end graphic design, commercial level office related tasks and hassle-free typing, just like with a laptop.

Of course, the typing side of things really depends on whether you buy a package that comes complete with a keyboard, or "type cover" as Microsoft likes to call it. The keyboard is definitely an essential accessory to get the most satisfaction and functionality out of the Surface Go.

Specification And Models

The basic package does not come with a keyboard, it's tablet only. The basic specification comes with Windows 10 S Operating System, Pentium 4415Y Gold Processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB eMMC and 4GB HD 615 Graphics Processor. The Intel HD 615 Graphics Processor is certainly not the best out there, but not the worst either. This model is the cheapest entry-level package, which will be adequate for most users. However, it's the extra speedy 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD model that most people are prepared to shell out there money for.

Pentium 4415Y Gold Processor

Both use the same Processor (Pentium 4415Y Gold), and are basically the same other than a slight weight difference, double the amount of RAM, and larger solid state internal storage space of the more expensive model.

Using a Pentium Gold Processor in the Surface Go seems, on the Surface (Pardon the pun) to be poor decision by Microsoft, as its not considered to be one of their highest performing Processors. Expectations were focused on the Processor being either an i3 or i5 of some variety. Irrespective of that, the Pentium 4415Y Gold Processor (no burst) in the Surface Go seems very well suited, and has received great feedback from users. Who said Dual Core was dead or outdated.

Flow With The Go

All things considered, there are so many positives for this device. It's capable, versatile, slick and refined, and has great reviews from end-users. It's not cheap, but with the deal season fast approaching (Black Friday, Cyber Monday - Xmas sales etc), there are deals out there to be had. Snap one up while you can. This one is worth buying.

Packages / Bundles available: Tablet only (either the 4GB or 8GB model), or with the external keyboard (Type cover) in colours, Black, Burgundy, Cobalt Blue or Platinum. The Surface Pen is also available but sold separately. With this model, you pretty much Flo with the Go! That's a quick quote from Rickson Gracie that I couldn't help using.
